Edmund B. “Bruce” Armstrong, Jr., Ret. Det. (WPD), passed away March 5, 2014 at Sunnyview Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Verna A. (Moorby) Armstrong.

He was the son of the late Edmund B. and Winifred J. (Bonaventure) Armstrong, Sr. Mr. Armstrong was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Warwick F.O.P. Lodge #7, D.A.V. Past Commander, Emily Baker, Chapter 9, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Past Commander, Major Walter G. Gatchells #306, Pawtucket, Wm. Shields American Legion Post #43, 32nd Degree Mason for over 50 years and a member of the Oversea Lodge #40 F&AM Cranston, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Chapter Consistory, the RI Shriners and the Fleet Reserve, Branch 42, North Kingstown.

He was the beloved father of Edmund B. Armstrong, III (Fire Chief, WFD) and Diann G. Lean; loving grandfather of Justin Lean and Kaitlin Armstrong. He was the brother of Claire L. Boehm and the late Dorothea C. Saute.

His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Information and condolences, visit TheQuinnFuneralHome.com
