After winning the top prize in the Studio El Fan, a Lebanese talent show, Tamim rose to fame in the mid 90s. The versatility of her voice which was said to suit both pop and classical Arabic music allowed her to quickly establish the rising starlet in the Arabic music scene.

Her quick rise in entertainment brought on many personal difficulties that strained her life.

Tamim's private life was marred by troubles that started with her husband-manager and then later her patron, Egyptian billionaire Hisham Talaat Moustafa. She fled Lebanon to Egypt and then to London and finally to Dubai where she was murdered in the Jumeirah district of the city.

Hisham Talaat Moustafa was convicted of hiring a hitman to kill Tamim and sentenced, by an Egyptian court, to death. His sentence was later overturned to 15 years imprisonment in a retrial.
