David Martin Van Buren, 99, of Rosedale, WV passed away at his home, Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

He was born January 29, 1917 in Braxton County, WV, a child of the late George and Sophia Putnam Van Buren.

He was a WWII veteran, an equipment operator for the WVDOH, and he was a farmer and timberman. He has participated in the Center West Virginia Mule and Donkey Show at Holly Gray Park where he won the Oldest Driver Award several years. He has participated in this show 21 of the past 22 years. A special thank you goes to all family and friends who made this possible for him.

He is survived by son, Wesley, Van Buren; adopted son, Joseph Lee Van Buren; daughters, Bethel Hamrick, Midge (Harold) Park, Janet (Bill) White, and Evelyn (Benny) Miller; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several step-granchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kenneth Tanner officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Mill Fork Cemetery, Rosedale.
