A son of Thomas Faherty and Margaret Costalow or Costello(e). Some records say he was born around 1807. He married Ellen Hughes 2 Jun 1845 in Kilcummin Oughterard, Co. Galway, Ireland. They came to America with their children around 1852. Manus Faherty was a teacher at a boy's school in Ruma and owned a farm. The school was later used as the convent for the Adorers of the Blood of Christ.
