Queen Sheba was a beatiful Siamese and she knew it. She acted like the royalty for whom she was named. Her word was law and every whim was catered to. She was given to my Granny by my aunt and uncle, who owned her mother, Ishie. Sheba was given to us by Granny (who originally named her Babe) on a Thanksgiving visit and she rode all the way from Mississippi back to Ohio with no problems, but that was the last time she tolerated the car without squalling.

After having one litter of kittens, Dad decided we weren't going through that anymore and had her spayed. After that, she had another litter, so we tried again. About a year later, she had a third litter, so we gave up. Once we stopped trying to control her body, she stopped having kittens. I like to think that she was both pro-choice and pro-life, because she chose to give life no matter what the humans wanted. On one nice day, we had her third litter out on the back porch when my best friend's dachsund, Chris, decided to go check them out. Sheba saw him headed toward her babies and took off after him. He saw her coming and tried to turn tail and run, but it was too late. She jumped on his back and rode him right out of the yard. I don't remember him ever returning back to our property.

Sheba loved to sleep on the TV and radio for their warmth. Dad's was her favorite lap to sleep on, because he didn't fuss over and pet her like all us girls and Mom did. She loved Nacho Doritos and if offered turkey on Thanksgiving, would practically bite off the fingers that offered it to her, she was so anxious to get to it. She also loved iced tea. She was a favorite and almost revered member of the family who would get away with anything if I was around. To me, everything she did was perfect. I'm grateful to God that she got to live such a long life for a cat. I loved her so much and she was my girl.

I would like to thank Judy and Becky W. for sponsoring Sheba's memorial. God bless you!
