Before retiring, she co-owned and operated a business founded by her husband, Young's Hearing Aid Service.
Georgia was all about family and serving the Lord. She was always busy in serving the church, and taking care of others. From helping people pay their electric bill, buying groceries for those in need, to sitting with the ill in the hospital so that the family could have a break. On a beach trip with her daughters, they passed a mobile home on fire. About a mile later they turned around, pooled what cash they had on them, and gave it to the homeowner. Her giving knew no bounds.
She came from a musical family and was always ready to sing. For many years she belonged to a group called The Melodyaires. They sang for numerous evangelistic meetings in North & South Carolina.
She was a crusader for Christian Education, Stop-Smoking Clinics, Wild-Life preservation, the Babcock Center and Cancer Awareness.
Later in life she found great pleasure in Senior’s Ministries Leader at her church. Her traditional yearly p-nut boilings were greatly anticipated. And the annual Christmas luncheon that she hosted at her home was always a joy for all. The house always looked like a big Christmas package exploded inside and out.
Georgia was a very giving person. If you had a problem she would help. If you were in need she would give. If you were down she would lift your spirits.
She will be greatly, greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
