Abram was named after his grandfather. He married Sarah Myeres (Goodwin) Nesbitt on Septermber 2, 1862. Abram was President of the 2nd National Bank.

Mr. Nesbitt was the founder of Nesbitt West Side Hospital. Abram presented Nesbitt Park on the west side of the river to the City of Wilkes-Barre.

Abram and Sarah had 6 children:
1. Walter James Nesbitt (1863-1864)
2. George Francis Nesbitt (1865-1900)
3. Abram Goodwin Nesbitt (1866-1926)
4. Ralph Nesbitt (1869-1875)
5. Sarah "Sadie" Nesbitt Smythe (1872-1919)
6. Frederick D. Nesbitt (1875-1911)

Abram was reared at Wyoming Seminary (Kingston). He has been a resident of Kingston since 1849. He began life as a land surveyor, which vocation he followed fifteen years. He was one of the organizers of the Second National Bank of Wilkes-Barre, and since its organization in 1863 has been a director; served as vice-president of the bank six years, and has been it president since 1878. He has also been an extensive dealer in real estate. On September 2, 1862, Mr. Nesbitt married Sarah M., daughter of Abram and Sarah (Myers) Goodwin, of Kingston, Pa., and has four children, George F., Abram G., Sadie and Fred D. Mr. Nesbitt is a widely-known and prominent citizen of Luzerne county, has held nearly all the local offices of Kingston borough, and is now one of the trustees of Wyoming Seminary. In politics he is a Republican.
