Bill was born on November 5, 1924 in Bossier City, LA and passed away on March 22, 2016. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Army. He proudly fought for his country in WWII, receiving 3 Bronze Medals. Bill worked as a contractor after serving in the military. Bill was a member of the American Legion Koran Post 388 in Haughton, LA, and a Member of VFW Post 4588, where he served on the Honor Guard. Bill could always be found at the American Legion whether it was cooking, cleaning or whatever needed to be done.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie A. and Nita Hutton Rodgers, wife, Eloise Mary Cathey Rodgers, three brothers and one sister. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Billy Rodgers; daughter, Kay Coburn; grandchildren, Michael Wimpy, Vicky Gallio, Suzy Wimpy; great-grandchildren, Victoria Gamboa, and John Herebia; sister, Marie Abbott, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be Michael Wimpy, Adrian Gallio, William Abbott, Larry Abbott, John Herebia, and Jimmie Rodgers.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 920 Pierrmont Rd., #300, Shreveport, LA 71106.
