HAUGHTON, LA – Services for Mr. Fred A. Rodgers, Jr., 66, of Haughton will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday September 12, at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel with Paul Tucker officiating. Assisting will be Kenneth Holland, Chaplain of the American Legion and Brother Mike Honzell, pastor of Koran Baptist Church. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Rodgers died Friday September 9, 1988, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Bossier City, he had been a lifelong resident of Haughton. He was a General Contractor and owner of River City Construction until his retirement in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army for 27 years, retiring as a Major, was Past Commander of Post No. 388; 40 & 8 Chef de Gare Locale No. 137; life charter member of Post No. 388; a member of V.F.W. No. 2238; veteran coordinator council; charter member of [40 & 8] Locale No. 1588, Koran, La.; was awarded the Blue Cap Award; designed and built the Post No. 388; was awarded the Mike Gehr Award by the state; member of the American Legion for 41 years; graduated from Fair Park High School and went to the National Guard; was serving 4th District Commander at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Louise Rodgers of Haughton; two sons, Fred A. Rodgers III, of Haughton, John Albert Rodgers of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Nita Ann McManus of Atlanta, La., Linda Sue Hembry of Natchitoches, La.; two step-sons, Danny Youngblood of Delhi, La., Roy F. Youngblood of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sisters, Florence Moss and Marie Abbitt, both of Shreveport; two brothers, Bill Rodgers and Jim Rodgers, both of Haughton; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: George Hardy, Milton Harrison, Jack Brown, Bill Lashmit, Ed King, Larry Posey.

Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the American Legion Post No. 388; Fourth District American Legion; 40 & 8 Locale & Grande La.; 4013th Army Reserve Unit; General George McGovern, General O.
