According to cemetery records, two babies were buried in this same grave, Mary E and Percy.

Newcastle lost one of its oldest residents by the death of Mrs. Caroline Brien, of Elliott street, Hamilton South. It is claimed that Mrs. Brien, who was 87 years of age, was the first white child to be born in the Lake Macquarie district. She was born at Warner's Bay on January 11, 1843. Mrs. Brien lived at the Junction for 71 years and kept the Junction Inn from 1874 until 1923. Until her death she had resided with various members of her family since her husband died 11 years ago. Descendants of Mrs. Brien go to the fifth generation. There were 16 children, 92 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. There are 23 grandchildren married. Eleven children still living. They are: Messrs. Harry Brien (Tighe's Hill), Jack (Wickham), George (Sydney), Richard (Hamilton), Mick (Sydney) and Frederick (Cook's Hill). Mesdames Miller (West Australia, Cook (Sydney), Taylor (Newcastle), Antney (Hamilton) and Goodier (Junction). The funeral, which took place on September 5, left the Newcastle Cathedral for Sandgate cemetery. The Dean of Newcastle (Rev. W. H. Johnson), assisted by Minor-canon Hole, held a service before the cortege left the Cathedral. Mr. Hole conducted the service at the graveside. The pall-bearers were eight grandsons, Mesrs. G. N. and T. Taylor, W. Coote, and W., N., A., and J. Brien. Wreaths were placed on the grave from the loving children, Herb, Maude and family, Mr. L. M. Craig, Mr. and Mrs. W. Grothen, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, Jim Brien, Mrs. E. Milton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Findlay Milton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Findlay and family, employees of Hunter River Steamship Co., Ltd .and Colliery Supply Co., Ltd., M. Cunningham and family, Dunn family and Will and Clare, Rene, Mac and children, Flo Coote and familyMr. And Mrs. J. W. Thomas, Marion Dobie and family. {unknown newspaper obit}
