Silas Kittle died in Orangeville, Friday morning, October 26th, age 71 years, 1 month, 15 days. He was in the barn unhitching his team, one horse had been put in the stall when he was taken ill and crawled into the manger where died.
Coroner Broughton and Dr. Truesdell were summoned and pronounced apoplexy as the cause of his death. Mr. Kittle was born in Orangeville and had been a lifelong resident of that place. The funeral was held Monday morning at 11 o’clock and the remains were buried in the Wilcox cemetery in Orangeville.

The community was greatly shocked by the sudden death of Mr. Silas Kittle Friday afternoon, October 26, 1906 at the home of Louis Krotz, where he had been worked for sometime. Mr. Kittle was born in Orangeville, September 12, 1835 and was the eighth son of a family of ten children, nine sons and one daughter. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, one son, Franz Kittle and two daughters, Mrs. John Merrill and Miss Ola Kittle, also two brothers, George of Orangeville and Holton of Wayland, Steuben Co., N.Y. Funeral was held October 29. The services were conducted by Rev. Barber assisted by Rev. Bennchoff. Mr. Barber spoke from the very appropriate words, "Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man Commeth."
