George Oscar Bierman, 61, died March 9, 1958 in St. John's Hospital in Huron following a lingering illness. He was office manager of Spink County ASC office and had been a lifelong resident of Spink County. He was born October 23, 1896, the son of William and Lena Bierman near Mansfield. He was a veteran of World War I. On June 2, 1926, he married Ann C. Borchard at Mansfield. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Joyce, Mrs. Lyle Smith, Mansfield; Corrine, Mrs. Douglas Johnson, Huron; nine grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son. Funeral arrangements are scheduled Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Mansfield. The Rev. H.H. Kuehn and the Rev. John Allan Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives will meet in the basement of the church. Memorials may be given to the church. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Bryson Funeral Home of Redfield.

The men's chorus of Trinity-Lyle, Nels and Jerry Bierman, Kenneth and Melvin Hahler, Virgil and Loren Heidenreich, Elmer Kramer, Robert Borchard and Lester Schliebe, sang "Song of my Soul" and "Abide with Me," with John Elsing directing. Martha Elsing was the organist. George Bierman was born October 23, 1896, near Mansfield, the son of William and Lena Bierman nee Bittner. He was baptized in early infancy and made his confirmation vows April 9, 1911. He remained a faithful member of his church until his passing. He entered the service of his country in 1918 and served about two years, being stationed at Camp Grant, Illinois. Upon his discharge, he returned to his home where he farmed with his father and brothers. On June 2, 1926, he was married to Ann C. Borchard of Mansfield. They lived on a farm near Northville for 20 years. In 1946, they moved to Northville and resided there until 1954 when they moved to Redfield. Mr. Bierman has been affiliated with the farm program from its inception in 1932. He had been office manager for the A.S.C. for over 20 years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ann; his daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Joyce) Smith, Mansfield; and Mrs. Douglas (Corrine) Johnson, Huron; nine grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters, a host of relatives and friends. One son, George Gary, preceded him in death.
