Hendrikje Fitz is the daughter of the actors Peter Fitz and Ute Fitz (Kokoska). She was born in 1961 in Frankfurt. Her father was at that time working at the Schauspiel Frankfurt Theatre. In about 1970 the family moved then to Berlin.

At the age of 20 Hendrijke Fitz started her carreer at the Freie Volksbühne Berlin and became an actor and singer. She worked in the beginning as an actor at several theaters in Germany (Schauspiel Bonn (1989/90), Mittelsächsisches Theater at Freiberg (1990–1994), Theater Vorpommern at Greifswald (1994–1996), Schauspiel Leipzig (1996), Neue Schaubühne (1998), Theater an der Kö at Düsseldorf (2004, 2006), Theater am Dom at Cologne (2007) and Winterhuder Fährhaus at Hamburg (2012). Mostly with Director René Heinersdorff.

In 1998 she became an popular star of the MDR tv blockbuster series "In Aller Freundschaft," in which she played physiotherapist Pia Heilmann. She was with the show from its inception in 1998, taking time out only recently to fight her very public battle with cancer, after the first diagnosis in 2014. Acting the last time in January 2016 was she on screen for the public the last time on April 26, 2016 (in part 725 of the "In aller Freundschaft" series). Hendrikje Fitz lost the long fight against cancer on April 7, 2016 at the age of only 54.

She was buried in her hometown Berlin at the Forest cemetery at Berlin-Zehlendorf in the family grave next to her father and actor Peter Fitz.

The Senat of the City of Berlin covered the burial cost's and declared the grave of both actors as an grave of honor. It is since then preserved by the City of Berlin.

Hendrikje was never married or had children and is survived by her brother and her mother. She might be gone, but is not forgotten. May she R.I.P.
