Compton is pronounced Cumpton in that part of the country, and his name was very often written as Cumpton. He was my grandpa's Uncle Cump.
Cumpton's death certificate lists his burial in Beckley. The family had lived at Beckley when his wife Mary Ann died in 1910. Their daughter Josie Calfee is also buried at Beckley.
