Helen Walker-Beattie 71, a resident of 7726 Jack Adcock Road, Oxford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born to the late Joseph and Effie Kenton Royster, Helen was raised in Granville County, North Carolina along with her eight siblings.

She was a graduate of Toler High School and went on to further her education receiving her PCC Associate Degree in Applied Science, a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree from North Carolina Central University.

She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Community Church where she served as assistant coordinator of the Women’s Ministry and also in the Community Relations Ministry.

Helen was also very active in the community, some of her accomplishments include serving as a coordinator at Vance-Granville Community College, Rotary International, South Granville Rotary Club President, Granville County Finance Officer, Grant Coordinator and an honorary Recruiter for the Airforce. Helen was also a Paul Harris Fellows recipient.

Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband, Timothy Beattie; two sons, Albert Henry Walker (Regina) and Paul Anthony Walker (Gloria); one brother, Joseph Royster; one sister, Mary McAfee; six grandchildren, Jacoby Paylor, Tashan Walker, Kelsey Walker, Dawson Carter, Reggie Walker and Elijah Walker; one great-grandchild, Stella Walker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence Atkinson, Larry Beattie, Quency Beattie, Fred Beattie, Leroy Beattie, John Beattie, Virginia Jackson, Helen Royster and Shirley Parker and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Cornerstone Christian Community Church with eulogy by Bishop J. Phillip Betts. Burial will follow in the Aaron Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
