REUBEN E. DEMMIN

Reuben E. Demmin, age 84, formerly of 4114 W. Zander Road, town of Gibson, and a current resident of the Harbor House, II, 1480 N. Seventh St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Thursday evening, April 13, 2006, at the Aurora Medical Center, in Two Rivers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, town of Gibson, with the Rev. Maurice L. Hoppe officiating, with Military Services to follow. Burial will then take place in the Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay.

Reuben was bon May 28, 1921, in Egg Harbor, to the late John and Jennie Demmin and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of the Sevastopol High School. Reuben served in the US. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He married the former Eunice Vertz on June 26, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay. She preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1989. He was employed as a die setter and Production Supervisor at Mirro Aluminum Manufacturing Co. for nearly 4 years. He also owned and operated a Blacksmith Shop in Zanders for many years. Reuben enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Betty and Wolf Kannegiesser, of Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law: James and Bev Demmin, of Burlington, Wash.; two grandchildren: Kim Carlson: Jill (Greg) Schetter; one step-grandchild: Michelle (Wes) Carper; five great-grandchildren: Courtney and Garrett Carlson; Sydney, Ryley, and Megan Schetter; three step-great-grandchildren: Shelby, Cody and Levi Carper. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Norman and Robert Demmin, and by his step-brothers and step-sisters.

Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, town of Gibson, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation.

A memorial fund has been established for St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, or the Alzheimers Association.

The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Reuben’s family would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped care for him these past years. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you also to the Doctors and staff at Aurora Medical Center and to Pastor Hoppe for all he did for dad over the years. He is at peace with the Lord and we are eternally grateful.
