LEE G. Bean
Lee Gentry Bean was born February 27th, 1883 in Jackson County, Alabama, and died July 30, 1938, at the home of his niece, Mrs. Joe Nelson, having reached the age of 55 years, 5 month and 3 days.
He came to Elgin with his mother and brothers in 1891, and since that time has lived in the vicinity of Elgin and Coupland.
He was a loving son, having made a good home for his mother who assed to her heavenly home some fourteen years ago. Since e death he and his nephew, Virgil Davis, have made their home together near Coupland.
Mr. Bean was a good neighbor; was honest and kind and so his friends are many. He seldom revealed his inter thoughts, but judging from his kindness to all, his neighbors and friends, and his thoughtfulness to his relatives, he must have felt and believed in God our Father. May he rest in peace after his useful life on this earth.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. R.M. Davis of Coupland; Mrs. Newton Matthews and Mrs. Jenny Sanders of Alabama; one sister-in-law, Mrs. W.H. Bean and a number of nieces a nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, four miles east of Coupland, with the Rev. G.M. McNeilly, Baptist pastor, of Elgin, officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove cemetery east of Elgin. Pallbearers were nephews: Leon and Chas. Bean, A.W. and W.L. Matthews, L.M. and H.W. Davis.
Mr. Bean had a large circle of friends in Elgin and all who know him will deplore his death.
