Ebenezer Parsons was born September 29, 1781, in Stockbridge, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, the son of Eliphalet and Martha Young Parsons. He was also the grandson of Elihu and Sarah Edwards Parsons, and the great-grandson of Rev. Jonathan Edwards, the famous 18th Century theologian. With his parents, he moved to New York, living in various places in the western part of the State. In 1805, he married Hannah Lyon, in Genoa, Cuyuga County. She was the daughter of Amos and Amy Palmer Lyon, and was a native of Horseneck, Connecticut. Ebenezer and Hannah were the parents of 11 children: Sandford Ebenezer, Louisa, Augustus, Eliphalet Harvey, Amy Lyon, Justin, Jonathan Milo, Frances, Sarah A., Sextus E. and Samuel Parsons. The family eventually moved south and settled in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, where Ebenezer and Hannah lived the remainder of their lives. He passed away February 8, 1856, in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, and was buried in the City Cemetery there.
