She was one of fourteen children born to Margaret Jane (Vallely) and James B. Rock, who were (married) immigrants from the townland of Cladybeg, County Armagh, Ireland to the U.S. in 1866, emigrating to Vermont. Two of her sisters died young: Ellen (1878-1880) and Sarah (1886-before 1900).
Wife of Frank Goodspeed Holmes, whom she married 25 Jan 1915 in Brookline, Massachusetts. She was the mother of four children, Edward F., Ethel L., Gertrude A., and Eleanor M.
