He was one of fourteen children born to Margaret Jane (Vallely) and James B. Rock, who were (married) immigrants from the townland of Cladybeg, County Armagh, Ireland to the U.S. in 1866, emigrating to Vermont. Two of his sisters died young: Ellen (1878-1880) and Sarah (1886-before 1900).
Husband of Maud May (Richardson). They were married on 27 Jun 1901 in Montpelier, Washington, Vermont, and later divorced.
