She was born Dec. 12, 1924, at Sedan to the Rev. Guy L. and Ethel L. (Edwards) Eslick. She grew up in Southeast Kansas, where her father was a Christian minister for 45 years. They lived in Caney, Garnett, Topeka, Moline and Mound Valley, where she graduated from high school in 1942.
On March 1, 1942, she married Donald Gerald Mitchell at Mound Valley. Her father performed the ceremony. Soon after their marriage they moved to Parsons, and in 1974 they built a home in rural Edna. Don preceded her in death on July 25, 1986.
On Sept. 19, 1992, she and Leonard H. Rexwinkle were married. He preceded her in death.
For years she was an avid golfer and bowler and served in offices in both those activities. She worked at First Federal Savings and Loan for 10 years and then worked at Peoples Savings and Loan, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Elm Christian Church and was church treasurer many years.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Deana Morin of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Christopher Jarrett of Tulsa, Shelley Nolop of Parsons, Jeffrey Jarrett of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Heather Biggs of Nowata, Oklahoma, and Shannon Morin of Altamont; 10 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a niece and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lou Mitchell; two infant children; a brother; and three sisters.
The family will have a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elm Grove Cemetery in Edna.
