Susan B. Ganong was a daughter of James Harvey & Susan (Brittain) Ganong.

Born in Carleton (a former community in Saint John West), she had a 41-year career in education. She retired in 1944 as Principal of Rothesay Netherwood School (currently, a boarding and day school for ages 6-12).

Susan's elder brother, William Francis Ganong (1864-1941) was a Harvard University graduate, eminent botany professor (Smith College, Northampton, MA), and distinguished cartographer and historian.
