Edgar Remington served in Company B. 111th New York Infantry in the Civil War.

He enlisted on July 31, 1862 at the age of 21. He was mustered into Company B. 111th NY Infantry for 3 years service. He was wounded in action at Po River, VA and was mustered out of the service at Albany, NY on May 23, 1865.

His regiment at Gettysburg lost 58 killed 177 wounded and 14 missing. At the Wilderness they lost 42 killed 119 wounded and 17 missing. During the Appomattox Campaign they lost 81 killed and wounded. They also had 2 officers and 74 men die in Confederate prison camps.

Edgar was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic Post #28 in Chicago, IL.

On Oct 17, 1872 he received an Army Invalid Pension foe his service in the Civil War and on Oct 14, 1898 his widow received an Army Widows Pension.

When he died on Sept 19, 1898 in Chicago, his death certificate stated he was a 57 year old married superintendent, born in Hudson, NY in 1841. He was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery on Sept 22, 1898.
