Ray Warren McClung, 81, of Sharpley Avenue, died Jan. 27, 2003. His son, Rodney W. McClung predeceased him.

Born in Beckley, W.Va., Mr. McClung was a retired shipyard pipefitter and a member of the Pipefitter's Union. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gearline M. McClung.

Mr. McClung is also survived by his two daughters, Meldora Jane Adkison and her husband James of Florida and Regina Teska and her husband Sid of Ohio; three sisters, Gayla Dennison of Maryland, Cora Cochran of West Virginia and Helen Diggs of Maryland; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at First Church of God, Granby Street and Bayview Avenue, by Pastor Dennis McQuown. The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel. Donations may be made in Ray McClung's memory to First Church of God, 8600 Granby St., Norfolk, VA 23503.
