WIFE OF ADKISON, JAMES EDWARD JR
AMH2 US NAVY

Meldora Jane Carver Adkison passed into eternal life peacefully Wednesday, September 5, 2012 after a long battle with kidney disease. Born on June 2, 1946 in Beckley, West Virginia and raised much of her life in Norfolk, Virginia.

Meldora was an exemplary and shining example of the Christian walk having loved the Lord with all her being virtually her entire life. She served 3 years as a member of the Norview High School musical group, Baker's Dozen, an honors choir of only 13 selected and gifted members. She was also a longtime member of First Church of God, Norfolk, Virginia where she shared her God-given talents as an expert pianist and soprano. Her constant witness for the Lord Jesus Christ touched many lives. Having a servant's heart, she also served her community of Norfolk, Virginia in the Accounting Department at City Hall for many years.

Meldora is preceded in death by her father, Ray W. McClung, and her mother, Gearline Holmes McClung, as well as her brother, Rodney McClung, all of West Virginia. She is survived by her remaining immediate family members, husband, James E. Adkison, Jr.; sister, Regina M. McClung, of Ohio, and the only child of her first marriage, son, Brian Thomas Carver (Linda S.), of Norfolk, Virginia. She is also survived by two step-children, Brian K. Adkison, Texas, and Heather L. Farias, of Jacksonville, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at East Pointe Church, 270 N. Kernan Boulevard, Jacksonville, 32225 with Pastor Mark McGaughey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be at 1:30 PM in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Arrangements by Giddens-Reed Funeral Home.
