Juanita Dickerson Millar, 79, of Waco, passed Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, after a short illness, and with family by her side. Services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Chuck Treadwell officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery (Chalk Bluff).

Juanita was born in Sulphur, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, to the late Lloyd Thomas and Kittye Francis Dickerson. She grew up in the Sulphur Mines area near Sulphur, La., and moved to Seabrook, Texas, where she met and married Dr. Jerry Thomas Millar in 1943. They moved to the Waco area in 1947 and then to Chalk Bluff in 1960. Juanita was active in the veterinary practice until Jerry retired in 1986.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco and a member of the Altar Guild. Juanita was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the East Terrace Board, the Waco Farm and Ranch Club, a Volunteer at the Heart of Texas Fair for over 25 years, Meals on Wheels, and an active member of the Axtell and McLennan County PTA. She was an avid Texas historian and had special interests in genealogy, antiques, and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years in 1986; and her brothers, Bill and Kenneth Dickerson.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Thomas Millar, of Dallas, and Patrick D. Millar and wife, Jana, of Waco; daughters, Mary Ann Felton and husband, Scott, of Waco, and Margaret Erwin, of Waco; grandchildren, Perry Felton, Lindly Felton, Kelly Felton Clark and husband, Andrew, Emily Erwin McCann and husband, Jimmy, John Walter Erwin, Paul Millar and Jane Millar; great-grandson, Preston Clark; sister, Wynona Casady, of Irving; brothers, Bart Dickerson and wife, Georgia, of Nacogdoches, and Joe Dickerson and wife, Andrea, of League City; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
