RAYMOND A. GOEKE
(1922 - 2016)

Raymond A. Goeke, age 94, a resident of Manitowoc, completed his earthly journey on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Maritime Gardens Assisted Living.

Ray was born on January 7, 1922 in Newton to the late Albert and Lina Wicke Goeke. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1940. On December 2, 1944, Ray married Ruth Rodewald. She preceded him in death in August of 2008. Ray was employed at Rodewald Motor Garage for over 20 years and later purchased the business which he renamed Goeke Chrysler Plymouth of Newton. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Ray was a man of integrity and carried himself with humility and was a constantly genuine and caring man. He had a unique gift to remember history and geography in great detail. Above all, he enjoyed spending his time with all of his family and friends. Ray was active in Angels Association at the former Manitowoc Health Care Center, and in 2004, was proud to receive the Volunteer Service Award from the Wisconsin Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.. He was the last surviving charter member of the Newton Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church where he was part of the church council, adult bible study and church choir.

Survivors include Ray's three children: Reginald (Ann) Goeke, State College, PA; Rogene (Dennis) Moore, Manitowoc; and Randal Goeke, Apple Valley, MN; 11 grandchildren: Katie Goeke, Reg Goeke, Ryan Goeke, Paige Goeke, Dan Moore, Melissa Grzonka, Sarah Steffen, Joe Moore, Matthew Goeke, Jessica Goeke, and Jennifer Huff; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Myrt (Ed) Vetter, Newton; and also many extended family that Ray loved very much including nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Ray was preceded in death by his wife: Ruth; grandson: Lt. Christopher Goeke; brother: Allen Goeke; and three sisters: Linda Stuckman, Bernice Sommer and LaVerne Meinnert.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, 411 Reed Avenue, Manitowoc. Rev. Carly Kuntz will officiate with burial to follow at St. Johns Reformed Cemetery in Newton. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harrriganparksidefuneralhome.com
