Mary M. Weir, age 76, a Manitowoc resident, died on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at River’s Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Mary was born on April 26, 1940 in Valders, WI, daughter of the late Francis and Hazel (Torrison) Meany. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1958. Mary was employed as a private duty baby nurse for four years. She was also employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital as an administrative assistant with the blood bank retiring after 22 years due to a disability.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Virginia and Ray Safarik, IL; two grandchildren: Carrie Chicoine and Michael (Kelly) Safarik, all of IL; five great grandchildren: Melanie, Kyle, Andrew, Jessica and Annabelle; one sister and brother-in-law: Jeanice and Conrad Lerum, Plant City, FL; one sister-in-law: Sharon Meany, Manitowoc; and one special niece: Barb Walsh. Other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Lois and William Walsh, Joanne and Jerry Zarn; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Claude and Betty Meany, and Paul Meany.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Ave), Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
