Phyllis J. Opperman, 79, of Findlay, Ohio died in the late evening on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at her residence. Phyllis was born on December 29, 1929 in Findlay, Ohio to Gerald E. and Guyneth (Conine) Garman. She married R. Joseph Opperman on March 29, 1953 and he survives. She is also survived by her son, D. Jonathan (Amber) Opperman, Findlay, Ohio; two granddaughters, Jessica and Meghan Opperman, who were the two brightest stars in her life and a brother, Glenn K. (Evalyn) Garman, Findlay. Phyllis was a 1947 graduate of Findlay High School and she attended Bowling Green State University and then graduated from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Blanchard Valley Hospital and later in the office of Dr. Walter Galbreath, after which she was a full-time mother. She was active in the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxillary, where she served as the manager of the Gift Shop at the hospital. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Kreps officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hancock County Historical Museum, 422 West Sandusky Street, The City Mission, 510 West Main Cross Street, both of Findlay, Ohio 45840 or the charity of the donor's choice.
