Danish-German Countess. She was originally Princess of Denmark-Norway-Sweden, of the Oldenburg Dynasty. She was a daughter of King Christian II and Queen Isabella. She and her family were exiled in 1523 when her father was forced from the thrones of all three kingdoms. She married Count Palatine Frederick in 1535, then becoming his consort Countess Palatine, and their marriage lasted till his death 21 years later. Just like her younger sister Princess Christina, she too was a lifelong claimant to the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish thrones. As Electress in her own right, she was titular Palatine monarch for two years from 1559 to 1561. She and Frederick had no children.
