Theophilus Huggins was born June 10, 1810.He was the son of John C. Huggins, Sr., and Nancy Ann Campbell. He married Lucy A. Betts on July 6, 1837 in Wilmington, New Hanover Co, NC He was a Methodist preacher, and he died Feb 27, 1850 in Wilmington, NC. His widow Lucy was listed on the 1850 census in New Hanover Co, NC. She died June 7, 1852 (per obituary in the Marion Star). Theophilus and Lucy had the following children: Lucy (m.Nicholas Bowden), Jessie (m.David W. Ketchum), Isadora V.(m.Samuel W. Vick),& Charles Huggins. Theophilus and Lucy are at rest in Oakdale Cemetery.
