Hattie Ellen "Betty" Thomas, 93, of Bloomington, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016, in Garden Villa Health Care Center.
She was born June 11, 1922, in Adair County, Kentucky, to Rufus Blaine Holt and Millie Frances Redman Holt. Betty was retired from the Bloomington Hospital Housekeeping Department.
Survivors include two sons, Walter "Bud" W. Thomas of Columbus and Charles "Bill" W. Thomas (Janet) of Bloomington; a daughter, Frances England (Billy) of Anderson; a son-in-law, John Paul of Anderson; a brother, Granville Holt of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Jason W. Thomas (Becky), Stacy L. Thomas Eads (Rick), Barry England (Sue), Billie Jean England Botkin (Darrell), Brian Thomas, Dana Thomas (Stephanie), Jennifer Thomas Dennerline (Brian), Herbie Bray and Tommy Joe Bray; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Thomas; a daughter, Louise Paul; three brothers, Joe C. Holt, Elmer Holt and Marvin Holt; and two sisters, Lola Holt and Vina Holt.
Betty was of the Pentecostal Faith; she liked to cook and loved her grandchildren. It was said that she always had a homemade apple pie for anytime one of her grandchildren would visit.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Sunday, February 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third St., with Pastor Billy Brim officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 4–8 p.m. in the funeral home.
