Last name also spelled "McLento" in the plat book volume 18 page 296 land located on Little River on north side of Broad River, Craven County, bordered by Joseph Lord, John Nagwares and vacant land; surveyed 1 march 1773, 100 acres. As Old Craven County was discontinued when South Carolina was divided in seven judicial districts in the 1770's, records of Tiimothy McClintock's land were found in Chester County; Rev. Robert McClintock's land in Laurens County; and William McClintock's land in Fairfield County South Carolina. (page 2 in the McClintock Memorial.) Death Date and place uncertain - but according to McClintock Memorial book - death believed to be in Missouri 1830. Wife was Susannah Miller born about 1756/60 and married around 1779. Susannah was dau of Alexander Miller and wife Hannah(ukn surname) per McClintock Memorial book. Children listed are Alexander mcClintock, b. about 1780; Robert b. about 1782; James born about Nov 7, 1785, Eleanor born about 1789, Susannah b. 12-31-1793, John born about 1800 and Mary (Polly) no information.
Evidence of William McClintock service during the Rev War: Voucher No. 231 Book R. Account of 85 days Militia duty in 1781 and 1782 amounting to 9 pounds 17 shillings 1 1/2 pence. For 15 days duty horseback in Capt Adams Co. commencing Apr 26 and ending May 15, 1781; for 28 days duty commencing July 1 and ending July 28, 1781; and for 42 days duty on foot commencing Jan 1 and ending Mar 14, 1782. William McClintock appeared before John Dair JP, and swore the claim was correct and that he had not been paid, May 23, 1782. Certification signed by Capt Adams on May 23, 1782 as to performance of duty and that the account was correct. Endorsement on back of indenture impowered Capt Hugh Knox to receive the account against the public for militia service signed by William McClintock 9/3/1785. National DAR #630560.
