GUSTAVE CHERNEY
Gustave Cherney, 85, former Mishicot resident and retired Hamilton Mfg.
Co., Two Rivers, employe, died Thursday afternoon at Manitowoc County
Hospital, where he was a patient six months.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Lambert Funeral Home and
at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot, the Rev. Anthony
Betley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Cherney was born Nov. 30, 1880, in Czechoslovakia, son of the late
John and Genevieve Cherney. When he was four the family brought him to
this country, settling in the Mishicot area. He married the former
Margaret Brouchoud at Holy Cross Church in 1907. Upon her death in 1958
he made his home with a daughter, Mrs. John (Mabel) Tuschl, of Manitowoc.
He was a member of the Hamilton Goodfellowship Club and the West Shore
Sportsmen’s Club. He retired from the Hamilton firm in 1951 after many
years of employment.
Besides the daughter he leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Neck? (Lola) Stahl,
of Rt. 2, Cato, and Mrs. Urban (Loriene?) Brunner, of Manitowoc; a son, Lloyd,
of Manitowoc; two brothers, Emil, of Manitowoc and Adolph, of Maribel Caves;
24 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded
him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will
be recited at 8:30 p.m.
