SUDDEN DEATH OF D McKAY. - Mr. Daniel McKay, and [sic] old and well known citizen of this county died very suddenly last Monday night at his ranch about 4 miles above Jackson, supposably [sic] of heart disease. He had been out during most of the day getting his hay under shelter, and, after eating a hearty supper laid down on a lounge to rest, apparently in his usual health. He had been there only a few minutes, however, when his wife happened to step into the room, just in time to see him breathe his last. Mr. McKay has been a resident of this vicinity for a number of years, and was at one time owner of the McKay mine-now know as the Amador Gold Mine-which he sold a few years ago for a handsome sum of money, and purchased the ranch where he has since resided. He was buried on Wednesday afternoon, under the auspices of Jackson Lodge of Odd Fellows, he being a member of that order. He was a native of New Brunswick, and was about 58 years of age.
