(1914) CUMMINGTON - Dwight Thayer died Friday afternoon, May 7, after being in feeble health for some months, ag the age of 85. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. W. L. Giles, and the burial was in Chesterfield. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Frank, who lives in Chesterfield, and two who live in Orange. Lewis Thayer is a brother, and E.A. Thayer of this town is half brother, while he also leaves a half-sister. Much of his life was spent in Chesterfield, but for many years he drove the stage between this town and Williamsburg, coming here to live. Since then his home has been in this town, but for some years has been afflicted with blindness.
