Ione H. "Tootsie" Kornely, age 90, lifelong Shoto resident, entered into eternal life Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center. Ione was born November 30, 1926 in Shoto to the late Roland and Viola Schimmel Meissner. She married Anton "Tony" Kornely July 26, 1958 they celebrated 41 years together. He preceded her in death December 12, 1999. She attended Washington High School in Two Rivers thru 11th grade. She then moved to Milwaukee with her cousin Jackie Schaefer and worked for one year at Cutler-Hammer Mfg. Co. She then moved back to Shoto and was employed as a press operator for Invincible, and worked for the Shoto Fixture and Supply Co. She enjoyed bartending at Shorty's Double Dam Bar in Shoto, and at the Fawn Supper Club and was known for making her special Old Fashions. Ione enjoyed playing Sheepshead, and bingo. Ione was a member of the Mishicot Senior Center, and a lifetime member of the Shoto Conservation Club. Tony and Ione provided the pickles for the Conservation Club tent at the Manitowoc Co. Fair for many years, and that tradition has passed down to her younger brother Pauly and his wife Janice. She also loved her time with all her grandkids. Ione will always be known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. We love her dearly and will miss her dearly, but take comfort in knowing that she is dancing, and playing Sheepshead again with all the Shoto clan that went before her.She is survived by her children: Jim and Joan Kornely, of Shoto, Dale and Cheryl Kornely, of Eagle River, Dean and Susie Kornely, of Francis Creek, one son -law: Bob Schultz, of Two Rivers, 14 grandchildren: Jill (Mark) Belonger, John (Mary) Schultz, Kristy (The Late Bruce) Moffat, Linda (Mark) Shaw, Corey (Kelly) Kornely, Susie (Randy) Messick, Karen (Hans) Schuette, Jenny (Dennis) Schneider, AJ Kornely, Alex Kornely, Cassie (Mike) Schmidt, Matt (Amber) Kornely, Hannah Kornely (Special Friend Jeremy Dvorak), Adam Kornely, 26 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters: Shirley Holly, North Carolina, Donna (Roy) Petska, of Shoto, two brothers: Roland (Jr) Meissner, of Manitowoc, Pauly (Janice) Meissner, of Shoto, one sister-in-law: Betty Kornely, of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews. In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Schultz, four brothers and five sisters-in-law: Vernon (Bonnie) Meissner, Kenneth (Elaine) Meissner, Glenn (Margaret) Meissner, Danny (Rosie) Meissner, Gracie Meissner, one sister and two brothers-in-law: Eunice (Edward) Braun, Chuck Holly.
