Raymond W. Anderson, 79, Sioux City, died Saturday May 27, 1995, at a Sioux City nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Salvation Army with Capt. Mike Mills of Davenport, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m., conducted by Capt. Ray Tuttle of the Sioux City Salvation Army, at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Hungerford Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Carl and Lottie (Asplund) Anderson. He graduated from Newcastle, Neb., public schools. He married Shirley Mae Olson April 29, 1950, in Elk Point, S.D. A longtime resident of Sioux City, he worked for Interbake Foods for 31 years, retiring in 1978. He then worked for Laurence's Market until illness forced his reitrement.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Salvation Army. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for five years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jeff, Randy and his wife, Deanne, all of Sioux City, and Gary and his wife, Stephanie of Omaha; four daughters, Neva Anderson, Laurie Anderson and Susan Wilde and her husband, Danny, all of Sioux City, and Marlys Anderson of Indianpolis, Ind.; a brother, Edmund Anderson of Hinton, Iowa; two sisters, Ethlyn Cain of Sioux City and Annabell Johnson of Carroll, Neb.; nine grandchildren, Phil, Robert, Kristina and Kayla Anderson, Kortney and Ian Yanke and Laceann, Danny and Joe Wilde Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Hilton and Cecilia Hoffman and a granddaughter, Angel Wilde.
Pallbearers will be Robert Williams, Mike Cadwell, Jim Anderson, Steve Formally, Kevin Johnson and Arvid Olson.
