The funeral services of the late Mrs. Eliza Armstrong who died last Friday were held at the home of G. W. Armstrong on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock and was in charge of Rev. George A. Duvall, pastor of the M. E. Church. This was an occasion of mingled joy and sorrow for the deceased who was almost ? years of age had been lying helpless and blind for more than four years. Hers was surely a triumphant death. She had been a member of the Methodist church practically all her life and up until the time of her great affliction was a tireless worker. Her death was such that it should inspire God's believing children and send conviction into the hearts of the unsaved. The services were well adapted to the occasion, the pastor taking as his text, Prov. 16:21 – "The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness." G.A.D.

History of McSherry-Werts (Barney's Run) Cemetery.
Barney McSherry came from Maryland to the Westport area about 1810-1815. His wife was Mary Caldwell, a daughter of James Caldwell, the pioneer settler of Westport. Barney settled in the area that was named Barney's Run. A daughter married George Armstrong, and Samuel and Nancy Pfoutz Werts also settled in the area. These individuals used a burying ground on the place, on the south side of the river, for the sepulture of their dead. It is said that when George Armstrong's wife died, she could not be buried with him due to the height of the river, and was instead buried at Robbins Cemetery on the other side.
