William A. “Bill” Lemke, Jr., 89, of Chilton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Calumet Medical Center. William was born June 10, 1927 at home in the Town of Rantoul, son of the late William Lemke Sr. and Frieda (Klessig) Lemke. Bill married Florence Bergelin on May 23, 1953 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in the Town of Chilton.

Bill worked as a self-employed dairy farmer, an occupation which he dearly enjoyed, before retiring in 2012 and relocating to Chilton. He was a faithful husband and caring father to his children. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church ~ Rantoul and held various offices on the church and school board. In his free time, Bill enjoyed playing a round of Sheepshead, reading, watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, and enjoying a good dessert.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; 4 daughters, Yvonne (Arlen) Wittrock of Pocatello, Idaho, and their children, Nolan (Kori) Wittrock and Matthew Wittrock; Jayne (fiance, Ronald Plate) Lemke of Chilton; Barbara (Joseph) Schaefer of Chilton, and their children, Rob Schaefer, Andrew Schaefer and Jamie (Andrew) Michael; and Marlys (Keith) Stroobants of Chilton, and their children, Erica (Andrew) Gutierrez, Alison Stroobants, William (Nicole) Stroobants, and Jared (Noelle) Stroobants; his son, Mark (Kelly) Lemke of Chilton, and their children, Bryce Lemke and Alexis Wolf; 6 great-grandchildren, Marin, Landon, and Imogen Gutierrez, Alex and Ayden Michael, and Clyde Stroobants; a brother-in-law, Howard Haese; three sisters-in-law, Irene Duchow, Evelyn Schmidt, and Dorothy (Eugene) Mertz; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Sophie (Vitus) Wiegert, Loney (Clifford) Behnke, Helen Haese; sister-in-law, Alice (Donald) Bowers; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Duchow and Merlin Schmidt.

Funeral services will be at 11:30am on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church ~ Rantoul (N6080 W. River Road, Hilbert, WI) with the Rev. J. Patrick Niles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service.
