"Ruth Saucedo Campos, 84, of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully June 20, 2016.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Rosary recital at 6 PM. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 AM Monday at St John The Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Ruth was born on November 24, 1931 to Benito and Guadalupe Campos. She graduated from Argentine High School in 1949. Sheraveled to Lima, Peru as a Papal volunteer in 1960 and found her true place in life. Ruth served as a missionary and gave aid to the poor and discovered her passion - teaching in the classroom.

When Ruth returned to the United States, she earned an Associate in Arts from Donnelly College in 1972. Bachelor of Arts from Avilla College in 1974. She later received her Masters of Art in Education Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1979. She was a high school Spanish teacher at Sumner Academy of Arts and Science, where she retired in May 1996. During that time, Ruth earned numerous accolades for the positive way she affected students lives. The pinnacle of which was the Teacher of the Year Award that she received in 1996.

In her life, Ruth never stopped teaching because it was what she had a passion to do. In 2014, Ruth wrote a book, My Journey in Faith, to share her life with the world. Ruth never married nor had children but she touched many lives through the years.

She leaves behind her sister, Elvira Pacheco of Kansas City, KS. Ruth will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and close friends."
