William was the son of John Willard Blocher and Mary (Robbins) Blocher. He was married four times. First to Alice Permelia (Hardy) Blocher (1851-1884) on March 27, 1870 in Scott County, Indiana. William and Alice had five children together: Emma, Lola, Edward, Pearl and Clarence Blocher. William's second wife was Vinnie M. (Ward) Blocher (1863-1897). William and Vinnie were married on May 31, 1885 in Bartholomew County, Indiana and they moved to Pottawatomie County, Kansas. William's third wife was Carrie (Downs) Blocher (1878 - ?). William and Carrie were married on November 2, 1897 in Havensville, Pottawatomie County, Kansas and they had one son, Cecil Noah Blocher. Carrie was living alone in Missouri by 1920 and she died sometime after 1921. William's fourth wife was Mary "Mollie" (Alexander) Worley Blocher Gray (1873-1933). William and Mollie were married on September 7, 1921.
