Pvt. Stephen Josephs died of Typhoid Fever at the age of 18 in a Union Army hospital. He was in company "K" of the 119th Pennsylvania Volunteers, and buried in the Assumption of the BVM Churchyard, Manayunk on 27 November 1862. After a repose there spanning 154 years his remains were translated to St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Roxborough from Manayunk due to the sale of the church and its adjacent cemetery in 2016.

He was the bachelor son of Stephen & Catherine Josephs of Cresson Street. MAY HE REST IN PEASE ONCE MORE AND MAY LIGHT PERPETUAL SHINE UPON HIM.
