Gouvemeur — Miss Mary Martha Barney, 84, of 15 Sterling St., retired bookkeeper, died Thursday morning, Mar. 13, 1975 in Moongate Nursing Home, Canton, where she had been a patient since August. The funeral was held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, with Rev. Norman E. Poupore, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Fort Covington. Surviving are a sister, Edith Barney, 15 Sterling St., three brothers, William, James and John, predeceased her.
Born at Fort Covington Nov. 9, 1890, daughter of Alexander and Martha Nora Barney, she attended schools at Massena and Fort Covington and was graduated from C.C.B.I. in Syracuse.
She was employed for several years in Syracuse, later lived at Lisbon ahd had been making her home with her sister before entering the nursing home.
