Henrietta Bedinger Goodwin, age 94, of Jackson, passed away on July 31st, 2001 in The Nim Henson Nursing Home. She was born September 29, 1906, the oldest daughter of 17 children. Her father, Benjamin Franklin Bedinger D.D. was a Presbyterian minister and her mother, Mary Ella South Bedinger was an assistant matron of a children's home.
Survivors include her only daughter, Louise B. (Smith) Turner of Jackson, Ky.; two sisters: Mary Schneider of Wisconsin and Katherine Cook of Nebo, N.C. She had three grandchildren: Penny Louise Eller, Hazard, Ky.; John Mitchell Smith of Covington, Ky. and Paul Daniel Turner of Jackson, Ky. Also one great-grand daughter, Madison Renee Eller of Hazard, Ky. She also had one step-son and three step-grandchildren. Henrietta left behind a lot of special nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends. Her husband preceeded her in death in 1974.
A very "special" memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Marion, N.C. on August 12, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. She was a faithful member until health problems prevented her from attending.
Henrietta was a retired registered nurse and a college professor. She was also one of the most faithful volunteers with home-delivered meals through the McDowell County Dept. of Social Services.
Deaton's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
