Mr. Colohan was a 20-year veteran of the US Navy. He served his country during World War II, the Occupation of Japan and the Korean War, as a Chief Petty Officer/E7. He was married to his loving wife, Gertrude, for almost 60 years before her passing in 2004. Together, they raised twelve children in Richmond, 10 of whom survive him. In addition, Mr. Colohan had a very large and loving extended family.

As a lover of nature, especially the Eastern Bluebird, it was fitting that he and his wife retired to Louisa County. He also enjoyed railroads, but he especially loved golf.

His quick Irish wit remained with him to his last days. Mr. Colohan will be long remebered for his wisdom, his ability to fix anything mechanical, and his warm, sunny nature.
