Artur Brichta was born on January 1, 1888, in Holešice, North Bohemia, Czech Republic. He was the son of Nathan Josef Brichta and Johanna Bloch. He married Marta Fuks and they had one son and two daughters between 1921 and 1930. Prior to World War II the family lived in Praha I, at Platnéřská 7.

On 27 July 1942, Artur and his family were deported on Transport AAu. They were sent from Prague to Terezin Ghetto. While in the ghetto the family was seperated and Artur's son and eldest daughter were deported from the ghetto.

A few months later, Artur, his wife Marta, and his daughter Anna were deported from Terezin. They were sent Auschwitz Death Camp and arrived the next day on 16 May 1944. Unlike most incoming transports to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the inmates of this transport did not undergo selection, and none of them were murdered immediately upon arrival. Instead, they were ordered to surrender their luggage and were taken the so-called ‘Sauna’, where they were shaved and tattooed with prisoner numbers. They were then taken to a separate, fenced-off section of Birkenau which received the designation “Familienlager (Family Camp) B II b”, together with thousands of Theresienstadt inmates who had arrived there in September 1943.

Those who remained at the Birkenau Family Camp were taken to the gas chambers on July 10, 1944 and were murdered there. Since there are no other records for Artur it's believed that he was killed in the Gas Chambers on 10 July 1944 with his wife and daughter. He was 56-years-old.
