A Funeral Mass was held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Melvin Brunet, age 80, of Prentiss, MS who died July 10, 2016 in New Orleans, LA. Interment followed in St. James Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements.

Father Godfrey Andoh officiated. Pallbearers were: Jason Ross, Christopher Mayfield, Lyle J. Ledet, James Tate, Mark Cambre Jr. and Mark Cambre Sr.

Melvin Brunet was born August 29, 1935 in Larose, LA. He was the son of Rudolph Brunet and Lucille Fonseca. He served in the US Army National Guard. He worked as a fishing tool salesman for the oil field services. He was a former Lion’s Club member and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Mr. Brunet is survived by his wife, Ernestine “Tiny” Brunet of Prentiss, MS; two daughters: Charlotte Mayfield of Mobile, AL and Wanda Evans of Columbia, MS; one son, Alan Brunet of Des Allemandes, LA; one sister, Leona Cambre of Gretna, LA; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
