Robert was born November 6, 1931 in Stoneybrook Township to Leonard and Hilja (Sillampaa) Anderson. He attended Brookston School graduating in 1949. He served in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War.
In July of 1957, he married Joanne Erickson in Cloquet. Robert worked in mining, at the Cloquet papermill, and Wood Conversion. He then worked as a foreman for the St. Louis County Land Department for more than 35 years. Robert was a faithful member of Big Lake Covenant Church, the Culver Volunteer Fire Department, VFW, and was a Stoneybrook Township Board member.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joanne; sons, David (MaryJane) and Stan (Teresa) both of Cloquet, and Jim (Pat) of Colorado; sister, Helen Lahti of Florida; and sister-in-law, Elaine Anderson of Duluth; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home. A time of lunch and fellowship followed in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial was in Perch Lake Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
