She was born in Cloquet, MN, the daughter of Leonard and Hilja Anderson. Helen received a BS in Biology and Science from University of Minnesota Duluth and a Masters Degree from Nova University in Florida. She worked as a medical technologist and as a teacher in Minnesota and Florida.
Helen was a member of the Living Word Lutheran Church in Lantana, Florida, the Village Player's where she acted in ten plays, attended ten Elderhostels (mostly paddling a canoe) and was a published author.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arvid; adopted son, John C. Lahti, Sr.; two brothers, William and Robert Anderson; and sisters, Evelyn Salo and Ruth Gustafson.
Helen is survived by two grandsons, John (Chivaun) Lahti, Jr. and Kristofor (Trisha) Lahti; three great grandchildren, John III, Hayleigh, and Hunter; six step great grandchildren, Cody, Anthony, Chantel, Ariella, Mariyanna, and Makayla; nieces, nephews, and extended family
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, MN. Burial was in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Hermantown, MN.
